Giving for today and tomorrow
Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from Your IRA
If you are currently taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMD), you can make a distribution from a traditional IRA directly to the Church. The distribution is excluded from adjusted gross income for income tax purposes. A charitable IRA distribution may be an effective means to lower taxes for taxpayers who use the standard deduction as well as those who itemize deductions. For more information, consult your tax professional. Contact LegacyGiving@firstcheshire.org for the required instructions.
Make a Gift by Transfer of Securities
You can receive a tax deduction on the appreciated value of securities donated to the church and avoid paying capital gains tax. Securities can easily be transferred to the First Congregational Church of Cheshire brokerage account by contacting LegacyGiving@firstcheshire.org for easy step-by-step instructions for completing the transfer.
Make a Legacy/Bequest Gift
Include First Congregational Church of Cheshire in your will, either in cash, property, or share of your estate value. Remembering First Congregational Church of Cheshire can be done as simply as instructing: “I give and bequeath to First Congregational Church of Cheshire a percentage of my total estate or stating a fixed dollar value.”
